When it comes to the weird and wacky world of professional wrestling, there must be a huge suspension of disbelief, even in more match-oriented promotions such as AEW. Wrestling feels as though it has an ecosystem and universe of its own, with conventional rules and regulations going out the window.

Throughout wrestling history, there have been many instances of wrestlers performing acts that should really get them locked up. AEW has shown many examples of wrestlers, managers, and others who could well be put in jail if their on-screen actions were pursued by the law. Of course, professional wrestling kayfabe has different rules to real life, so these dastardly criminal characters are still roaming arenas.
10 Ethan Page
During his feud with Darby Allin, Ethan Page wanted to either seriously injure or even murder his opponent, and he tried to do so in an attack.
In Daily’s Place, Page threw Allin down several flights of stairs which could have caused very damaging injuries. This attack came outside the confines of a scheduled match, so it could genuinely be looked upon as attempted murder. This was a brutal feud, and it brought a vicious side out of Page.
9 Chris Jericho
Chris Jericho has become somewhat of an arsonist. An array of his opponents have been the victim of his fireball attacks, which has become more of a thing since he became “The Wizard” of AEW.
Jericho has burnt several members of the roster during backstage interviews, which certainly isn’t allowed, and it would get him jailed outside the wrestling environment.
8 Abadon
Abadon has barely been on AEW TV, but in the short time that she was, she managed to do something that would certainly get her locked up.
During a feud with Hikaru Shida, Abadon stalked the AEW World Women’s Champion, terrorizing her wherever she went, lurking in the background and following her about.
7 Jake Roberts
Although Jake Roberts was a manager rather than a wrestler in AEW, his actions are too diabolical to ignore. During Lance Archer’s feud with Cody Rhodes, his wife Brandi was the victim of an uncomfortable assault from Roberts.
He climbed on top of Brandi with a snake and terrorized her. It was very hard to watch and would no doubt get him locked up. Roberts has been someone who has done awful things within kayfabe, and his tally of crimes in wrestling storylines would have gotten him a lot of time.
6 Matt Hardy
Matt Hardy’s dodgy dealings, tampering with contracts, and trying to trick people into signing things against their will, would have got him locked up.

As opposed to those mentioned who attack and assault their fellow wrestlers, Hardy’s crimes are more meticulous and fraudulent. Under the “Big Money Matt” gimmick, Hardy's time has been up and down, though there were several examples of him trying to swindle others out of money.
5 Sammy Guevara & Tay Melo
During Sammy Guevara’s horrendous feud with Dan Lambert and American Top Team, he and Tay Melo decided to target some of the things they valued most, though it was something that they should have been put in jail for.
They went and stole the UFC and BMF Title belts won by those in American Top Team. They smashed the glass cases containing the belts and held them ahead of their match against Men of the Year and Paige Van Zant at Double or Nothing 2022.
4 FTR
Before FTR were the highly respected babyfaces that they are now, they were dastardly heels who committed an act that should have got them in jail. During a feud with the Jurassic Express, they decided to kidnap Marko Stunt.
He was revealed to be tied and gagged on a chair and held hostage by FTR and Tully Blanchard. Simply put, this is enough to get anyone locked up, especially since they so outwardly bragged about doing this on live TV!
3 Britt Baker & Big Swole
The Britt Baker and Big Swole feud was a decent one, though that was only up until their Tooth & Nail match at All Out 2020, which was absolutely horrid. Although there was a no disqualification stipulation in this particular match type, it couldn’t have excused some of the things done in the match.
Legit needles were used during this match, in addition to the forced use of laughing gas to end the match, which surely cannot be legal, even under professional wrestling match rules. Either way, both these women went above and beyond in this match.
2 Wardlow
This one isn’t so much of a terrible crime, but when it comes to Wardlow, MJF could have well pursued legal action against him. Wardlow was signed to a contract as MJF’s bodyguard, but after a while, he rebelled and went against the terms of their legal agreement when he turned babyface.

MJF could have pressed further with this legally, as Wardlow did illegally go against the terms that he had signed his name to, and if it went far enough, then perhaps Wardlow could have been in trouble.
1 MJF
There isn’t enough time or space to list all the things that MJF has done in AEW that could get him put in jail, though mentioning the most recent one is probably a good place to start to give an overview of the type of person his character is.
During a promo, MJF revealed and admitted that he was driving whilst impaired, caused a crash, and then proceeded to put his unconscious passenger in the driver's seat to frame her. That alone is bad enough, but MJF has done and said many other diabolical things over the course of his AEW career that would constitute a jail sentence.
