He has put together some classic matches against a wide variety of opponents, and he always tries to deliver when put in big match situations.

However, after so many years in the industry, it is only natural that there will be a few matches that don't end up going the way that he hoped. Whether that be due to mistakes or simply because the encounter didn't go as planned, they end up being the bouts that Orton would prefer people forget about completely.
10 Vs. Triple H (Unforgiven, 2004)
This period should've been a huge deal for Randy Orton as he had moved on from Evolution and was seemingly set to enjoy a run as an upcoming top babyface. However, despite the fact he was working against a legend in Triple H, this match ended up hurting his career.
The loss to the Game ended up hurting that babyface spell as it made fans lose interest in him. Of course, Orton was eventually able to get his career back on track, but this was a situation he'd prefer to forget completely.
9 Vs. Kofi Kingston Vs. John Cena (Raw, 1/11/10)
Randy Orton is a brilliant professional wrestler, but earlier in his career, it was well-known that he had an attitude problem at times. This was mainly confined to backstage situations, but it did also spill into the ring at points and that was clear in this triple threat match on Monday Night Raw.

This was the infamous moment where Orton would be seen screaming "stupid" repeatedly at Kingston, which was a situation that ended up negatively impacting Kingston. However, the main reason Orton would prefer people to forget this situation is simply because it makes him look terrible.
8 Vs. Jinder Mahal (Battleground, 2017)
Jinder Mahal isn't one of the most exciting wrestlers to watch from a bell-to-bell perspective, and that was clear at Battleground when he faced Randy Orton. The encounter wasn't a good one which wasn't helped by the fact that they were restricted by the fact it was a Punjabi Prison match.
This is one of the toughest stipulation bouts to work in because visually it makes things hard to see, and the rules are overly complex. Add in The Great Khali creating a distraction finish and this truly turned into a disaster that Orton doesn't want people to remember.
7 Vs. Triple H (WrestleMania 25)
Getting the chance to headline WrestleMania should be something that most wrestlers want people to never forget about due to the significance of that, but Randy Orton's encounter against Triple H at WrestleMania 25 wasn't good enough.
They were in a tough spot following a classic from Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker and despite their feud being a hot one the company added a stipulation of Orton losing the title if he got disqualified, which ensured that this one would never become a classic.
6 Vs. Sheamus (Raw, 4/8/13)
Randy Orton facing Sheamus seems like a good idea on paper due to the fact both men are talented workers who can entertain a crowd. However, this post-WrestleMania edition of Raw was not the night for this one to happen because the WWE Universe did not want to see it.
Even though they were trying to showcase their qualities, the live crowd ended up chanting against everything that they did. It made them both look foolish which makes this a match Orton would want to forget.
5 Vs. Big Show (Survivor Series, 2013)
When a WWE Championship match is met with 'boring' chants, it's a sign that things are not going to plan, and that is exactly what happened in this encounter. Randy Orton and Big Show might be two veterans, but this match ended up being a complete disaster.
The two men were seemingly just going through the motions in this one in front of a crowd that didn't care about what they were seeing in the moment which hurt them both.
4 Vs. Hulk Hogan (SummerSlam, 2006)
Getting the chance to face Hulk Hogan was a huge opportunity for a young Randy Orton who was making a name for himself, but the booking decision on who won this was all wrong. Orton was the Legend Killer at the time, and that was something that should have been tapped into properly.
Instead, Hogan got the victory after he put his foot on the ropes to stop Orton from winning earlier in the encounter. The Hulkster dominated things after it got restarted, and it just made Orton look weak.
3 Vs. Jinder Mahal (Backlash, 2017)
Every WWE Championship reign has to come to an end, and that is a fate that Randy Orton has suffered countless times due to how much success he has enjoyed over the years. However, losing the gold to Jinder Mahal might be something that Orton would prefer fans didn't think about.
Mahal was someone who had never been seen at that level before, and after his run as champion came to an end he hasn't been back at that point. His title reign stands out negatively because of that, and this is the match that made it all happen.
2 Vs. Bray Wyatt (WrestleMania 33)
This might have been a night when Randy Orton got the chance to win the WWE Championship, but it doesn't mean it is an encounter he will want people to recall. The storyline heading into this one was great, but the encounter itself ended up being disappointing in the eyes of most.

Seeing Orton pretend to be scared of bugs being projected onto the mat multiple times created a strange viewing experience in the eyes of the fans and was something that didn't feel like a top title match as it should have done.
1 Vs. Bray Wyatt (Payback, 2017)
Another encounter against Bray Wyatt that Randy Orton would likely want fans to forget was his match against him at Payback in 2017. This was a cinematic match before they became popular, and it was an example of they don't always work, despite the best efforts of those involved.
This was the House of Horrors match and was something that people didn't enjoy at the moment. It's one that felt goofy and even though they committed to it completely it wasn't something that worked at the moment.
