Sid Vicious was a rare wrestler to achieve the highest success in both WWE and WCW without getting much love today. Most of his peers to experience as much or even in some cases less success get brought back today and are treated with the legendary respect. 10 Eric Bischoff Taking Belt Away From Him To Reset Product
The New Blood vs Millionaire’s Club storyline took over WCW television for the spring and summer of 2000. Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff hoped that a company reset after a few weeks off would create interest with the new angle.

Their first segment featured the New Blood wrestlers in the ring when Bischoff and Russo vacated all titles. Sid Vicious was forced to hand over the WCW Championship to Bischoff without ever losing it. However, it was even stranger when Bischoff made a reference to Sid stabbing Arn Anderson with scissors that no one in attendance knew about.
9 Turning On Hulk Hogan Due To Fans Chanting For Hogan
The final program for Sid Vicious before the New Blood changes featured him turning on Hulk Hogan for the second time in their careers. WWE did it the first time when main eventing WrestleMania 8, but WCW tried to pull it off almost a decade later.
Sid was a face as the WCW Champion often teaming with Hogan against mutual enemies. The weird heel turn came when Sid claimed he grew frustrated with fans cheering for Hogan, even though they both received face ovations from the audience. WCW canceled the program to restart the product by vacating all the titles.
8 Awkward Botch Almost Injuring Brian Pillman In WarGames
The powerbomb finisher may be the most terrifying move if a botch happens. A wrestler dropping another the wrong way on their head or neck can easily end a career or lead to a life-altering injury.
Sid Vicious had one of the worst instances of a botch when doing it on Brian Pillman in a WarGames match. The cage ceiling was so low that it was impossible to lift Pillman and Sid dropped him earlier on his head and had to check on him.
7 Undefeated Streak Boosting Via Interfering In Matches
WCW tried to create a big attraction match between Sid Vicious and Goldberg when Sid claimed he had an undefeated streak that would pass Goldberg’s 173-0 record. However, most of the wins came when he interfered during matches and hit lower card names with the powerbomb.
Even though those weren’t actually matches, Sid boosted his winning streak by adding those numbers. There were also just bold-faced lies when WCW would add another 5-10 wins in between weeks of television. Sid actually lost most of his house matches facing Goldberg to test their chemistry before the TV payoff.
6 Car Being Destroyed In Comical Fashion
Another hilariously bad moment in the Sid Vicious vs Goldberg feud featured Sid trying to overact when selling an angry moment. Goldberg looked to get revenge on Sid for various attacks by destroying Sid’s car in the parking lot.

The weirdest and funniest moment featured Sid looking all over for his car before finding it barely recognizable. Sid responded by yelling “Why me?” to the sky in that kind of humor that could only come from a Sid improv moment.
5 Lex Luger Squashing Him In 26 Seconds
One of the strangest booking decisions for Sid Vicious in WCW came during his first run when making his name in the business. WCW added Sid to the legendary Four Horsemen faction and seemed ready to kickstart his noteworthy push.
The first match as a member of the group after returning from an injury saw Lex Luger squashing Sid in just 26 seconds. WCW booker Ole Anderson did this to intentionally punish Sid for prioritizing his softball league over wrestling.
4 Losing "I Quit" Match To Goldberg Via Passing Out
Mayhem 1999 was the WCW PPV to pay off the months of tension between Sid Vicious and Goldberg. WCW even added the “I Quit” stipulation to put higher stakes on the line.
Many fans were upset when it ended via Sid passing out and the referee stopping the match. WWE used the term "Submission match" if they were going to have a finish like this, similar to the iconic Bret Hart vs Steve Austin match at WrestleMania 13. The “I Quit” match stipulation meant nothing in WCW moving forward after this finish.
3 Having To Beat Kevin Nash Multiple Times To Win WCW Championship
WCW created a weird dynamic for the WCW Championship in early 2000. Sid Vicious losing the belt ended up being reversed due to the man that beat him leaving for WWE and the replay showing Sid’s foot under the rope when he tapped out to lose the gold.
Sid should have rightfully received the belt since he never lost it, but it turned into him having to beat Kevin Nash and the Harris Brothers. The first win was reversed since Nash claimed Sid pinned the wrong Harris. This led to another singles match between Sid and Nash where Sid had to win it again despite never losing it.
2 Barry Windham Impersonating Sting In His Match Vs Sting
The concept of a fake Sting added a lot to the epic WCW vs New World Order storyline. However, WCW used this angle in the past many years before becoming such a popular product. Sid Vicious vs Sting for the WCW Championship had a wild moment with a fake Sting.
Barry Windham impersonated Sting and tried to have Sid win the gold by pinning him.
WCW even had balloons and confetti falling when Sid won to utter confusion. The real Sting appeared to restart the match once the referee realized what happened and pinned Sid to retain the gold in comical fashion.
1 Bizarre Beach Vignette Planting A Bomb On Sting & Davey Boy Smith's Boat
WCW had one of the strangest moments in company history when creating a movie-like vignette skit for the Beach Blast PPV. Sid Vicious and Vader hired someone to plant a bomb on Sting and Davey Boy Smith’s boat when the faces were playing volleyball with kids.
The boat exploded as the kids delivered over the top sad reactions before Sting and Smith swam back to shore revealing they survived. This remains one of the most bizarre concepts in wrestling history that was even funnier seeing Sid in his gear and flip flops at a beach.
