Truth be told, the Night Of Champions PPV was never as successful as WWE would have wanted it to be. Yes, there were a couple of good editions, but overall, it was an average PPV, which never felt as important as it should have, especially with such a name.

As Triple H brought back this PPV, it's worth remembering that over the years, several mediocre matches took place at Night Of Champions. Boring in-ring action, questionable booking decisions, storylines with no heat, among other things. So, without further ado, let's take a look at the 10 worst matches in WWE Night Of Champions history.
10 AJ Lee Vs. Brie Bella Vs. Naomi Vs. Natalya (2013)
At Night Of Champions 2013, AJ Lee defended the Divas Title in a Fatal Four Way match against Natalya, Brie Bella and Naomi. This match could have been better, but it lasted five minutes and it felt rushed. The match had no structure nor story, and there was nothing memorable about it, but with more time that could have been different. The only good thing was the finish, as Natalya applied the Sharpshooter on Brie and Naomi, but AJ Lee applied the Black Widow on Natalya and forced her to tap out.
9 Montel Vontavious Porter Vs. Ric Flair (2007)
It wasn't often that Ric Flair was involved in a bad match, but on this occasion he and Montel Vontavious Porter flopped. It was an eight-minute match, with basic and boring in-ring action. We couldn't ask too much from Flair at that point in his career, but he still could have done better that day. MVP couldn't do anything to improve the match either. In the end, Montel Vontavious Porter defeated Ric Flair to retain the United States Championship.
8 The Miz Vs. Fandango (2013)
At Night Of Champions 2013, The Miz faced off against Fandango. This feud was mediocre, and apparently no one cared about this match, because the fans were dead from start to finish. The match lasted just under eight minutes, but it felt like an eternity, because it was so boring. This was simply a filler match. In the end, The Miz came out on top, but no one cared either because this babyface version of The Miz was bland.
7 Michelle McCool Vs. Melina (2010)
At Night Of Champions 2010, Divas Champion Melina and Women’s Champion Michelle McCool collided in a Unification Lumberjill match. This wasn’t awful, but the stipulation was unnecessary, and it seemed like the women at ringside didn’t even know what to do.

There were some sloppy moves that exposed how weak the women’s division was at the time. After six minutes and 32 seconds of forgettable wrestling, Michelle McCool defeated Melina.
6 Rusev Vs. Mark Henry (2014)
Rusev and Mark Henry had a lackluster feud in 2014, which was obviously about nationalities. Rusev represented Russia, while Henry represented the United States. The fans supported Henry obviously, and chanted "USA," but that didn't improve the match, which had mediocre in-ring action. The pace was slow, and the strikes and moves were not as powerful as they should have been considering it was a clash of powerhouses. In the end, Rusev defeated Mark Henry.
5 Johnny Nitro Vs. CM Punk (2007)
Johnny Nitro (later known as John Morrison) and CM Punk clashed in the final match of the tournament for the ECW World Heavyweight Championship. The match was disappointing and forgettable, there were no extraordinary sequences and the spots were simple. The fans didn't care about the match, and frankly there is not much more to say about it. Johnny Nitro won the match after hitting a swinging neckbreaker.
4 Eve Torres Vs. Layla (2012)
This was a Divas Championship match between Eve Torres and Layla. Frankly the match sucked, as it was even below the standards of that time, which is saying something. There were sloppy moves and basic sequences, no story and no in-ring psychology. Eve Torres ended up being the winner. The fans didn't care about the match, and maybe it also has to do with the fact that this match was right after an excellent bout between Randy Orton and Dolph Ziggler.
3 Mickie James Vs. Maryse (2009)
At Night Of Champions 2009, Mickie James challenged Divas Champion Maryse. We know that Mickie James is a women’s wrestling legend, and she was always a great in-ring performer, but on this occasion, she had a mediocre performance, and couldn’t do anything to carry the match against Maryse, who never excelled in the ring. The crowd was dead, and the match was boring, with a couple of noticeable botches. After eight minutes, Mickie James won the match and became Divas Champion.
2 Santino Marella Vs. Umaga (2007)
This was a lousy match. It lasted barely two and a half minutes, Santino Marella did little to nothing against a desperate Umaga who just wanted to destroy Marella and really didn't care about the Intercontinental Title at stake.

Then, Umaga simply attacked Marella mercilessly, while the latter held the ropes, and this obviously caused a disqualification. The fans booed after that finish. Back then, we saw mediocre Intercontinental Title matches on a regular basis.
1 Deuce & Domino Vs. Jimmy Snuka & Sgt. Slaughter (2007)
The worst match in Night Of Champions history has to be the WWE Tag Team Title match between the team of Deuce and Domino and the team of Jimmy Snuka and Sgt. Slaughter. Truth be told, Deuce and Domino were a lackluster team, and Jimmy Snuka (64 years old at the time) and Sgt. Slaughter (58 years old) shouldn't have even wrestled. This was painful to watch, the legends could barely move and Deuce and Domino weren't good enough to carry the match. It was a disaster.
