4 Best Double Champions In Impact Wrestling History (& 4 Worst)

TNA has over two decades of history in the world of professional wrestling. Several former WWE and WCW stars went to Orlando, Florida, and entertained fans in the Impact Zone, and continue to do so to this day.

Similar to any other wrestling promotion, TNA had stars who held two or more championships during a single run. Sadly, there were a few stars who remained credible as champions, and there were others who failed to remain dominant as a double titleholder.

8 Worst: Matt Sydal's Second Run With Impact Wrestling

Titles: X-Division and Impact Grand Slam Championship

Impact Debut: April 27, 2017
Championship Reign: November 2017 to April 2018

In 2017, Matt Sydal (aka Evan Bourne) returned to Impact Wrestling as a full-time performer. Sydal started one of the best runs of his career when he won the Impact Grand Slam Championship from EC3. Later, he became a double champion in the promotion when he also captured the Impact X-Division Championship.

Sadly, the run turned stale immediately after he became a bad guy and aligned with Josh Matthews. By the end of the month, Matt Sydal's dream run as a double champion ended when he lost the Impact Grand Slam Championship to Austin Aries. He left the promotion by the end of 2018 after a disappointing run as a double champion.

7 Best: Bobby Lashley's Second Run With Impact Wrestling

Titles: TNA World, X-Division and King of the Mountain Championship

Championship Reign: June 2016 to October 2016

Bobby Lashley spent years working on the independent circuit and in the world of Mixed Martial Arts before he returned to WWE for a second run. The All Mighty's second stint with the promotion has been the most successful run of his career except for his second run with Impact Wrestling.

In 2016, The All Mighty was having the run of a lifetime when he finally defeated Drew Galloway to win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Lashley went on to add two more belts when he won the X-Division and TNA King of the Mountain Championships. He ended up retiring the former Television Championship and went on to capture the World Championship one more time before leaving the promotion.

6 Worst: Sienna's Second Reign As Knockouts Champion

Titles: Knockouts and GFW Women's Championship

Championship Reign: April 2017 to November 2017

Allysin Kay (FKA as Sienna) has spent years in Impact Wrestling and contributed to the knockout's division. Sienna was once one of the most notable faces in the promotion who carried the division on her back when she won the Impact Knockouts Championships and the Global Force Women's Championship, making her a double champion in the promotion.

Sienna made history as the first woman to hold two championships from different companies as she went on to unify it. Unfortunately, her reign as champion was not as memorable as expected due to the end of GFW, and she eventually lost the title to Gail Kai at Bound for Glory 2017.

5 Best: Gail Kim's Return To Impact Wrestling

Title: Impact Knockouts and Knockouts Tag Team Championships

Impact Debut: October 2005
Championship Reign: October 2011 to June 2012

Gail Kim changed the face of women's wrestling in the industry when she worked with TNA. Kim had one of the fiercest rivalries against Awesome Kong that put the company and the division on the map way before WWE started to push women in their promotion with the Women's Revolution.

In 2011, Gail Kim had some of the best work of her career with Impact after she left WWE. She became a double champion when she won the Knockouts Women's Championship and Knockouts Tag Team Champion alongside Madison Rayne. Kim went on to win more titles in the promotion before eventually entering the Hall of Fame.

4 Worst: Alberto El Patrón's First Run With Impact Wrestling

Title: TNA World and GFW World Championship

Impact Debut: March 2017
Championship Reign: April 2017 to August 2017

Vince McMahon heavily pushed Alberto El Patrón aka Alberto Del Rio in the promotion as he captured the WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship before eventually leaving the promotion. Unfortunately, Patrón was not able to replicate the same amount of success when he made his way to Impact Wrestling.

In 2017, Alberto El Patrón won the GFW World Championship and unified the title with the TNA World Championship after defeating Lashley at Slammiversary 2017. Unfortunately, Patrón's real-life issues with Saraya (aka Paige) affected his in-ring career as he was suspended from the company for domestic violence and was forced to drop his titles.

3 Best: Samoa Joe's Legendary Run With TNA

Championship Reign: June 2007 to August 2007

In 2005, Samoa Joe became a prominent star in Impact Wrestling after his stellar match against AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels. The Samoan Submission Machine had some of the best feuds and matches of his career in the promotion for several years before he moved to WWE and AEW.

Samoa Joe made history when he became the first man to hold two championships in the company when he and Kurt Angle defeated Team 3D and became a double champion. Later, Joe defended and lost the X Division and Tag Team Championship to Kurt Angle at Hard Justice 2007.

2 Worst: Austin Aries As 'The Belt Collector'

Title: Impact World and Grand Slam Champion

Impact Debut: July 2005
Championship Reign: January 2018 to October 2018

Austin Aries was once regarded as one of the best cruiserweights in the world of professional wrestling and one of the best talents to come out of Impact Wrestling throughout the company's history. Often goes by as The Greatest Man That Ever Lived, he was the first star to introduce and successfully use the Option C where he gave up his X-Division Championship for a shot at the TNA World Heavyweight Championship and won.

Sadly, Austin Aries' run as a double champion didn't impress the fans. After a failed run at WWE, Aries returned to Impact Wrestling and immediately captured the Impact World Championship from Eli Drake. He went on to add more championships as he went by as The Belt Collector after his stint with WWE. However, the rivalry between him and Johnny Impact became very personal and unprofessional which affected Austin Aries's run as a double champion. In the end, he left the promotion when he no-sold at Bound for Glory 2018 after losing to Impact.

Kurt Angle's career, whether it was in TNA or WWE, speaks for itself as the Olympic Gold Medalist has excelled every time he stepped foot inside a squared circle. In 2006, The Wrestling Machine was released from WWE, and he landed in the Impact Zone and signed with TNA, where he performed for the promotion for a decade before entering the WWE Hall of Fame.

In 2007, Kurt Angle was unstoppable in TNA Wrestling as he captured all the titles in the promotion. After winning the TNA World Heavyweight Championship at Slammiversary 2007, Angle teamed up with Samoa Joe and became the TNA World Tag Team Champion. Later, he defeated Joe and won the X-Division Championship and became the sole Tag Team Champion. Eventually, he dropped all the titles, but it was an iconic moment in the company's history.
