In AEW especially, in-ring talent can take you a long way when it comes to finding success in the company, but it isn’t everything. There are several tag teams in AEW who have a great look, whether that be due to their size and appearance, or due to their presentation and coordination as a duo.

There are also some teams in AEW who don’t have the best of looks, not standing out especially well on appearance alone. This doesn’t necessarily mean that all those mentioned aren’t talented, and some of the best teams in the world don’t have a particularly striking look. Several factors will be taken into account here when judging the best and worst looking tag teams in AEW today.
10 Best: Kings Of The Black Throne
House of Black as a faction have a tremendous look, but when looking at “tag teams”, the Kings of the Black Throne duo of Malakai Black and Brody King make it onto this list easily.
Drenched in tattoos, the use of striking face paint, and their entire presentation from music to lighting to in-ring style helps to make this team stand out in a major way - much more so than many other acts in AEW today. They haven’t been granted much of a chance in the tag team division, but they could easily lead the line as champions if called upon.
9 Worst: FTR
There is no denying that FTR are one of, if not the very best tag team in the world right now, but they don’t have the best of looks. They have that throwback kind’ve aura, with more unimpressive physiques than other teams but relying on their technical ability and teamwork.
They wrestle in very simple attire and trunks, and if they didn’t have the reputation that they have, and fans saw them for the first time, they would very likely just look over them and assume them to be an undercard team. Of course, they have proven themselves over the years, and it is clear that you can find success without a flashy appearance.
8 Best: The Butcher & The Blade
The Butcher and The Blade have been pretty much a low priority for AEW since day one, but that doesn’t mean that they have a bad look. In fact, they have one of the more unique looks in the whole company.
The Butcher himself has a great look, with a large frame and notable face, and The Blade may look more simple, but the mask he used for his entrance was great. Together, they work very well, and with The Bunny by their side, their look alone should have arguably led them to some more success in the promotion.
7 Worst: 2point0
Angelo Parker and Matt Menard have brilliant chemistry, solid in-ring work, and their promo quality is strong, with them feeling like an intense throwback. However, when it comes to just their looks, they don’t have that great of an appearance.

They appear very basic, with bland attire and nothing overly special when it comes to their physiques and size. This may be one of the reasons why they haven’t booked too strongly in AEW thus far.
6 Best: Darby Allin & Sting
Sting & Darby Allin have teamed together several times in AEW, though they haven’t properly involved themselves in the tag team division as a whole and the AEW World Tag Team Titles. Either way though, they have one of the better looks in the company.
This all comes down to their face paint, which is occasionally matching too. Even when it doesn’t match, they still look great together, with Allin often feeling like a “mini Sting”. The pair have developed great chemistry over the years.
5 Worst: Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal
Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett have good individual looks in their own right, but when it comes to being a tag team, it is hard to distract from the fact that they do feel and look like two singles competitors.
They have developed some decent tag team chemistry and their attires sometimes match, but it is often just color coordinated with nothing else particularly special.
4 Best: Lucha Brothers
Both Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix individually have two of the best looks in AEW. Penta in particular has one of the more unique mask designs and matching attires. Fenix has a great look too, and together they look brilliant.
They have been a huge part of the AEW tag team division since day one, and fans love seeing them each and every time. A big reason why fans connect with them so easily is due to their look, and they look like stars just on that alone.
3 Worst: The Outcasts
The Outcasts tag team of Ruby Soho and Saraya might match sometimes with their green-ish attire, but overall their look doesn’t stand out in any particular way. It is basic and lacks creativity, especially at times when their attire doesn’t match at all.
It doesn’t help that their gimmick has been a complete let down too, with their whole package being one big failure since uniting together.
2 Best: The Young Bucks
The Young Bucks might not have the most impressive bodies or physiques, but they have a brilliant look. Their matching colorful attire in all its many different forms has offered some great looks over the years.

They always impress, with heavy focus often put by themselves on their ring gear. Coordination is key for Matt & Nick Jackson, all the way down to their entrance and in-ring work too.
1 Worst: The Kingdom
Mike Bennett and Matt Taven don’t have anything particularly special about them. They might have strong fundamentals, but they really don’t stand out as having a strong look. In fact, they have one of the more boring looks out of all the teams in AEW today.
Most of those mentioned here with the worst looks all come down to it just being plain boring and not standing out.
