As The House of Black continues to torment various members of AEW's roster, one of its members has spilled some satanic beans regarding the spooky stable's origins.
During a recent chat with Aubrey Edwards and Tony Schiavone on the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Brody King discussed his relationship with Malakai Black and opened up about how and when the House of Black foundations were laid.
“I would say the wheels really started turning when Malakai [Black] got released from WWE. We kind of started putting this House Of Black, Kings Of The Black Throne thing together. It was cool,” he said. “[Malakai] was like, ‘well, let’s just see if we mesh well together in the ring, just kind of get some reps in and see where this goes. Hopefully, it will take off from there,’ and I think it has," he continued.
Late last year, King and Black united when Black made his shocking return to PWG after a five-year absence at the promotion's Mystery Vortex VII event. Known collectively as The Kings Of The Black Throne, Brody King and Malakai Black defeated Black Taurus & Demonic Flamita PWG Threemendous VI to win the vacant PWG World Tag Team Championship.

Brody King is a 34-year-old professional wrestler who cut his teeth in the Southern California independent scene while training at the prestigious Santinos Bros Academy in Los Angeles. Something of a late bloomer, King wrestled his very first match in 2015, but his rise to indie stardom was swift. In 2018, he made his Ring Of Honor as a member of Marty Scurll's heel faction Villain enterprises.
Brody King was revealed as a House of Black member during an episode of Dynamite back in January. Shortly after, AEW announced that King had signed a contract with the company. Malakai Black's former WWE colleague Buddy Matthews was revealed as the group's third member when he made his AEW debut on the February 23 edition of Dynamite.
Shortly after being released by WWE last year, Malakai Black released a vignette in anticipation of his imminent return to professional wrestling. The video depicted Black as an inmate at an institution. At one point, Black tells a doctor that his eye was injured when he was pushed into some stairs by "Matthew" -- Buddy's real name. As you might recall, Matthews slammed Black's eye into the steel steps on an episode of Raw back in July 2020.
