CJ Perry, formerly WWE's Lana, closed out 2023 with a serious infection in her finger. What started as a splinter turned into a full-blown infection so serious that it started to affect her upper arm. Perry detailed her journey, spending an extended period in hospital, undergoing surgery, and sharing graphic photos of her finger at various stages in the process. Unfortunately, the treatment and surgery haven't had the desired effect, and Perry is back in hospital.
Return To Hospital
Perry revealed she was headed back to hospital on Wednesday, explaining that there had been complications with the healing process and the infection in her finger may have returned. In follow-up posts across Instagram and X, Perry has revealed her finger will need to be drained of MRSA (a bacteria responsible for serious and hard-to-treat infections when it gets inside the body) daily, and implied that will need to be done for the next ten days, at least.

If The Showoff signs with AEW, he may reunite with the woman formerly known as Lana.Perry also implies that she will need a second surgery on her finger next week. She has also shared photos of how her finger currently looks, and while I'm no doctor, it doesn't look good. Still swollen and purple, and the wound I'm assuming was left behind from the surgery doesn't look great either. Perry told her followers that her finger had started hurting again, and it seems that combined with how it's looking is what prompted her to return to hospital.
Returned Too Soon
Despite spending an extended period in hospital having her finger treated over the holidays, Perry recovered in time to play a role in the match between Andrade and Miro at World's End. Andrade's last match in the company as he became a free agent two days later. In one of the posts confirming the return of her infection, Perry implies that going straight back to work may be to blame for the finger not healing as it should have.
That likely means we won't be seeing Perry back on AEW TV for a while. Definitely not for the next ten days, and hopefully for a while after that too. Whether rushing to get back for World's End led to the infection returning or not, Perry needs to take some time off so her finger can fully heal once the infection has been cleared again.
