Tony Khan gave his own AEW promotions team the gears after they teased a big announcement that wasn’t really all that big. As a result, he noted that the promotion was going to need to make it up to the fans.
Apparently, Khan is not a huge fan of saying you’ll provide a huge announcement and then not actually delivering on that promise. That’s what AEW did when they teased a major announcement for hours on Twitter, which resulted in the announcement of a Homecoming edition of Dynamite on January 1 from Jacksonville. Not exactly huge news if you were a fan who didn’t live in Jacksonville, Florida.
Feeling like AEW had let down the fans, Khan took to Twitter and said, "Jeff, let's do our best not to toy with people's emotions like this.” He added, “We got people who aren't near the Florida market all excited, now we have to come up with another huge announcement, one that affects all of our fans everywhere, to make it up to them. So that's what we'll do."
What Is The Big AEW Announcement?
AEW, specifically Khan, has now opened the door to something big coming. Speculation is that it could be anything from Taz joining the broadcast team on a full-time basis, a video game, a new title or the signing of another big-name talent.
There’s no telling how long AEW will play up whatever it is they’ll announce but one thing is clear, they can’t under deliver on whatever they think of. Already taking a little heat for speaking a big game but having questionable booking ideas, creative holes and questions about officiating, AEW needs to show fans, when they say something big is coming, something big is actually coming.
