Cody had been teasing a huge announcement for AEW and on Monday at 5pm Eastern, the company introduced what will be a brand new AEW TV Title.

In the past 24 hours, AEW's Cody Rhodes has been all over social media saying that something big is coming to AEW. Admitting that it was something fans were eager for but not a video game, speculation was that it could be anything from a mid-card title to a partnership with NJPW. As the 5pm Eastern hour grew closer and more fans hopped online to watch the announcement, many of the AEW faithful were elated to hear that AEW has a new title coming.

For guys like Jungle Boy, Kip Sabian, Shawn Spears, Darby Allin, Orange Cassidy, and a host of other stars that aren't in the main event picture, this is great news. It's also not a huge shocker considering AEW just re-upped their television deal with TNT and extended it for many years. AEW will now have the TNT Championship Title.

After trying to hide the news from Cody, Tony Shiavone stood up, looked at the camera and declared he had big news. He exclaimed AEW would be announcing a brand new champion. The "TNT Champion". And, the brackets for the entrants into the TNT Championship Tournament would start becoming public on tomorrows' episode of AEW Dark.

AEW Needed Another Title

While the brand has a strong tag division and clear competitors for the AEW Championship, there are a host of other talents that don't have much to compete for. This title will give those guys working their way up the ladder a goal to reach and make some of the mid-card matches a bit more meaningful.

As long as AEW doesn't go overboard with titles like WWE does, This is nothing but great news for the company.
