Following the events of Act II, Treecko is incensed that one again he failed to prove himself to the Guildmaster, and desires nothing more than to show that he's truly a star explorer in the making. Taking Empoleon's words to him to heart, he decides to try and find a partner that can back him up, and soon finds one in the form of Duskull, the son of the Dusclops Banker who wants to become an explorer despite his father's protests. But, one problem—Dusclops would much rather have his son take over the family business instead.
