A lot of things have changed under the creative direction of Triple H in WWE. Returns are happening on every show, in-ring action has become a priority and surprises are popping up, with cliffhangers ending many of the shows Triple H is helping write. For one WWE announcer, it's a change he's extremely happy about.
Corey Graves mentioned as part of his latest "After The Bell" Podcast, that his role as a commentator has changed too. Instead of being the "heel" announcer who is supposed to poke fun at Byron Saxton and support the actions of the heel Superstars on Raw, he's been asked to react just as a fan would. The only difference is that his job is to be the voice of the fan base from the perspective of a knowledgeable wrestler who has a lot more detail to offer as to what's being shown on WWE programming.
Graves mentioned that he's not being informed about what's going on and he likes that. He said, "I love the cliffhangers, the elements of surprise, you gotta keep people guessing." While he said not every week needs to be that way, it's exciting to call the action and react in real-time. He added, ... right now, in the past few weeks, I am having more fun calling Monday Night "Raw" because I loved being surprised." Graves noted that his preference is not to have any clue as to what's happening on the show and said. "I get to react, I get to be a fan, I get to play the role of a super knowledgeable wrestling fan, rather than snarky bad guy announcer."

Graves Has Always Been The Heel Announcer
When injuries ended his in-ring career and ever since being hired by Triple H to take on a commentary role in NXT, he's been playing the part of a heel announcer. He seemed to hint that he's not being asked to do that any longer. That said, fans should expect the odd crack at Saxton since old habits are really hard to break.
