Fans have had their say on the two Superstars they would like to see announced as the cover stars for WWE 2K22.
After taking a break for a year, WWE 2K's main series of video games returns this fall. The series had been accused of phoning it in for years before 2K20 was dubbed an absolute disaster. The game was riddled with so many bugs at launch that its players eventually had no other choice but to point and laugh.
The hope is that after a year off, not including spinoff title WWE 2K Battlegrounds, that all of the issues the series had before will have been ironed out. Hype for WWE 2K22 has begun, and before you know it, the cover art for the new game will have been revealed. So who will be gracing the cover this year? WWE on FOX asked who you want it to be, and the results are in.

Drew McIntyre won the men's vote, and Sasha Banks was the chosen one from the women's division. Judging by the reveal from WWE on FOX, it wasn't a close-run thing. This wasn't an official vote of course, and WWE has likely already decided on its cover star. This feels like a fitting year to have alternate covers though, one featuring a male star and another sporting a female performer.
Or, as was done with WWE 2K20, you could have two cover stars. Roman Reigns and Becky Lynch both made the cover of the last installment in the series. Prior to that, 2K has only included one Superstar per cover since it took control of the series in 2013. The Rock, John Cena, Stone Cold, Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins, and AJ Styles have all made the cut in the past.
As demonstrated by the mocked-up covers above, WWE 2K22 will also be WWE's first foray onto PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. That poses a slew of new challenges for the game's developers but should mean the games look better than ever. With AEW about to enter the video game fray, WWE really needs to hit this project out of the park. Kenny Omega has hinted AEW is aiming for a 2022 release for its first mainline game.
