Despite a number of fans not getting the gimmick, it felt like Bray Wyatt finally found something that was going to stick when he debuted as The Fiend. Unfortunately, just like every other time Wyatt was repackaged, The Fiend quickly unravelled. It started with the bizarre Hell in a Cell match he had against Seth Rollins, and ultimately ended when Wyatt was released.
Goldberg Beats Bray Wyatt In Saudi Arabia
One of the biggest speedbumps for Wyatt's final character in WWE between the two moments mentioned above was his match against Goldberg. WWE made up for the HIAC match by having The Fiend win the title in the rematch. That meant somewhere along the line, Wyatt had to lose the title. That happened in a squash match to Goldberg in Saudi Arabia, a finish many fans believe only happened because the Hall of Famer demanded it.

Goldberg had never really addressed those rumors in the past, but spoke about them and the match openly during an appearance on SHAK Wrestling. The former Universal Champion denies having any say in the finish of the match, revealing that up until he arrived in Saudi Arabia, he was under the assumption that he was going to lose.
“I flew to Saudi Arabia knowing I was going to lose. Then somehow it changed and the finish was different,” Goldberg revealed. “Who the hell am I as a part-time guy to come in and demand anything... not in a million years in that Fiend situation in Saudi would I have done that. No way in hell.”
Goldberg added that this is the first time he has been able to defend himself about the situation, and that he would love to meet with Wyatt to make sure he knows he didn't have any say in what happened that night. It certainly sounds like Goldberg's version of events is the truth. Vince McMahon has a reputation for changing match results and even rewriting entire shows at a moment's notice. He likely changed his mind about the finish of that match multiple times while flying to the show, and then a few more times after he landed.
