Matt Cardona is quickly becoming a pro wrestling sensation. Without using WWE or AEW to feed him to fans all around the globe, Cardona is rapidly becoming one of the most popular wrestlers in the world. He's been everywhere, wrestled in every major promotion, and is building a name for himself as the indie guy you just have to have on your card. For that reason, Cardona says AEW and WWE aren't on his radar right now.

During a chat with the hosts over at the My Mom’s Basement podcast, Cardona explained that signing a deal with one company is not his objective right now. He doesn't want to be tied down to one promotion and that he's wrestled in numerous promotions and won multiple titles since being released by WWE and after a short stint in AEW, he's proving you don't need the two big brands to make a living and become a hot commodity.

He noted, "My goal right now is not, ‘Aw man, what do I got to do to get back in WWE or get in AEW?’ No. Not at all. I love what I’m doing right now." He said he would entertain a phone call if one of those companies gave him a ring, but he's comfortable making it without them. He said, "Ten years ago with my YouTube show, I think I proved, no, I know that I proved that through hard work, the internet, social media, whatever, that you can change your position in a major company." Suggesting that long before there was talk of a Forbidden Door, he was opening doors for so many people to create their own opportunities. "Now 10 years later, I want to prove that you don’t necessarily need AEW or WWE to be a successful pro wrestler," he said.

Cardona Is Right

Whether AEW or WWE calls him or not, Cardona is right about one thing. He doesn't need either company to make a living being a hot name in the industry. He's currently holding two different titles and it's very possible he holds more before Tony Khan or Vince McMahon both say, 'We have to get this guy back.'

Good for Cardona too. He made himself a star using social media while in WWE and ushered in a new era of the company realizing how crucial YouTube was to their overall presentation. It's about time he gets rewarded for being good at something long before almost everyone else was.
