Known to be a person who stands up for the wrestlers who leave a great legacy behind, Mick Foley didn't take too kindly to a Twitter user disrespecting the legacy of WWE Hall of Famer Eddie Guerrero. Foley immediately responded with his own Tweet calling Guerrero and A+ plus player.
When a thread of Twitter responses to a question by Denise Salcedo asking what hill wrestling fans were willing to die on went viral, Foley weighed in. While the original question was bound to trigger some controversial responses, one Twitter user took the opportunity to seemingly cross the line by saying, "Eddie Guerrero was a B + player at best and people only hold him in such high regard because he is dead." Likely due to a string of critical feedback, the tweet has since been deleted.
Salcedo did take a screen shot of the tweet and called the user out for such a poor and disrespectful take. She wasn't the only one to quickly jump on Twitter and offering push back to the controversial statement. Foley didn't mention the user by name, but he did disagree vehemently.
Not surprisingly, Foley responded, "Eddie Guerrero was an A+ player. End of discussion." Hundreds of other people chimed in on the conversation and many were quite critical of anyone who dared speak ill of Guerrero and what he did for the wrestling industry. Fans were especially sensitive because Guerrero has since passed away. It was a topic that trended for hours and as of this writing was still garnering a ton of responses.
Guerrero Was Absolutely Incredible
It's not clear if the person who wrote the tweet was simply trying to get attention with a wildly insensitive take, but if that was the intention, it worked. Unfortunately for that person, it became more than a detested response. It led to all sorts of appreciation threads and posts remembering fondly all that Guerrero did for the wrestling industry.
It also likely led to a ton of messages to that person which motivated the removal of the post.
Apparently, there are some names in the business you just don't bash. Guerrero's is one of them.
