Two NXT Superstars managed to break a women's Royal Rumble record, but neither of them could get the better of Charlotte Flair.

Not many Superstars were announced for the women's Royal Rumble match ahead of time this year. That made for a lot of surprises on the night, and a lot of those surprises came from NXT. Bianca Belair, Xia Li, Shayna Baszler, Chelsea Green, and Candice LeRae all made appearances in the match among others from the black and gold brand.

It was plain to see that the clout at WWE has big plans for Belair, even if she didn't win the match. The EST of NXT entered the match second, typing up with number one entrant Alexa Bliss. Belair would last long enough to eliminate eight other entrants, a Royal Rumble record for the still relatively young women's side of things.

That record still stands now that the match is over, but someone else from NXT equaled it later in the night. Baszler, who entered at number 30, very quickly cleared the field, eliminating seven other Superstars. With just her, Beth Phoenix, and Charlotte Flair left in the match. The Queen Of Spades dumped a bloodied Glamazon out of the ring to equal Belair's record.

Unfortunately for NXT, despite Belair and Baszler alone eliminating more than half of the match's entrants, it was Flair who won the match. The Queen was hanging from the top rope once Baszler was done with Phoenix, but the former NXT Women's Champion couldn't loosen Flair's grip. Once she had recovered and made it back into the ring, Flair made short work of Baszler and booker her spot at WrestleMania.

No offense to Flair and we look forward to seeing who she will face at WrestleMania, but her standing tall was not one of our main take-home moments from this year's women's Royal Rumble. The dominance of Baszler and Belair was number one, and Phoenix battling through a nasty cut to the back of her head was a close second. Congrats to all involved, and a championship match on The Grandest Stage Of Them All awaits for Flair.
