Randy Savage was one of the greatest wrestlers of all time to grace a WWE ring. Savage's legacy continues to live on and he has inspired many wrestlers that idolized him. 10 Randy Savage, King Harley Race & Adrian Adonis Vs. Ricky Steamboat, Roddy Piper & Junkyard Dog - WWE On MSG 2/23/87 (4 Stars)
Inside Madison Square Garden, Randy Savage, King Harley Race, and Adrian Adonis teamed up. They collided with Ricky Steamboat, Roddy Piper, and Junkyard Dog on February 23, 1987. This six-man elimination tag team match wowed the Madison Square Garden crowd.
The heels dominated the early proceedings of the match with Savage on the receiving end of a chorus of boos. The in-ring action was superb and it was whittled down between Savage and Piper at the end. Ultimately, Macho Man failed to execute his patented elbow drop from up top with Piper rolling out of harm's way and earning a hard-fought win with a small package. Meltzer certainly enjoyed the match and rated it 4 stars.
9 Randy Savage Vs. Dynamite Kid - The Wrestling Classic (4 Stars)
Unquestionably the match of the night at The Wrestling Classic belonged to Randy Savage and Dynamite Kid. They put on an instant classic with both desperate to advance to the final.
They went back and forth in this physical bout with Kid having the size and strength advantage. However, Kid was in a commanding position as he was going to suplex Macho Man from the top rope. Savage rebounded by advancing to the final with an inside cradle. It certainly caught Meltzer's attention with a four-star rating.
8 Randy Savage Vs. Ricky Steamboat - The Wrestling Classic (4 Stars)
When fans think about Randy Savage and Ricky Steamboat's battles their mind automatically gravitates towards WrestleMania III. They actually produced a hidden gem of a contest in the quarterfinals stage at The Wrestling Classic.
Steamboat had the upper hand but Savage resorted to underhanded tactics to gain a stranglehold on proceedings. Nevertheless, Macho Man didn't care how he progressed. He clocked The Dragon with a pair of brass knuckles to the head to prevail. It earned 4 stars from Dave Meltzer.
7 Randy Savage Vs. Ric Flair - The Great American Bash 1995 (4 Stars)
At The Great American Bash 1995, Randy Savage and Ric Flair put on an excellent match together in the main event. Savage's father Angelo Poffo was in Macho Man's corner. Savage applied early pressure on Naitch by coming out of the blocks fast.

Flair eventually got a stranglehold on the match. Naitch expertly wore Savage's knee down throughout. There were some superb sequences and even Angelo Poffo got involved. It proved to be an unwise decision as Flair knocked him down. Ultimately, Flair used Angelo's cane and he viciously nailed Savage in the face with it for the win in a match that earned four stars.
6 Randy Savage Vs. The Ultimate Warrior - SummerSlam 1992 (4 Stars)
Reigning and two-time WWE Champion Randy Savage defended his title against The Ultimate Warrior at SummerSlam 1992. For some reason, Savage always brought the best out of Warrior in another barnburner of a match.
They hit a home run and told an excellent story in front of 80,000 fans at Wembley Stadium in London, England. It was a war of attrition, and not even the interference by Ric Flair and Mr. Perfect spoiled the quality. Warrior was victorious by disqualification but Savage's WWE Title was intact. Meltzer acknowledged their efforts and rated the match at four stars.
5 Randy Savage Vs. Tito Santana - WWE On MSG 4/22/86 (4 Stars)
Two months after Randy Savage defeated Tito Santana for the Intercontinental Championship, they met once more in another marquee match in April 1986. Savage's Intercontinental Title was up for grabs but this time it was a No Disqualification match.
This was another remarkable match between the pair and it epitomized the greatest of Savage. This was a war of attrition with Savage putting on a technical masterclass and he went on to continue his Intercontinental Title reign well into the following year with a four-star rating to boot.
4 Randy Savage Vs. Ric Flair - WrestleMania VIII (4.25 Stars)
The WWE Championship bout between Ric Flair and Randy Savage at WrestleMania VIII was the first time that the WWE Title match did not close out 'Mania. It was the rightful main event with Savage and Flair tearing the house down in an outstanding WWE Championship match.

As expected with many marquee matches involving Flair he wore the proverbial crimson mask. Mr. Perfect got involved and he handed Flair a pair of brass knuckles. Their plans failed to come to fruition with Savage recapturing the WWE Championship. The match received 4.25 stars.
3 Randy Savage Vs. The Ultimate Warrior - WrestleMania VII (4.25 Stars)
There was a huge stipulation in Randy Savage and The Ultimate Warrior's battle at WrestleMania VII. The loser of the match would ultimately find themselves walking out of WWE in a retirement match.
Fans were mesmerized at what they had witnessed as the quality of the match was simply sensational. There were a few near falls and false finishes but Warrior earned a huge win. The match was so good that Meltzer saw 4.25 stars as a suitable rating.
2 Randy Savage Vs. Ted Dibiase - WWE On MSG 6/25/88 (4.5 Stars)
A couple of months after Randy Savage overcame Ted DiBiase for his first WWE Championship run at WrestleMania IV, they locked horns in a cage match. This bout emanated in Madison Square Garden on June 25, 1988.
This was a better outing for the pair with fans going berserk for Macho Man. DiBiase's bodyguard Virgil proved to be resourceful as he attacked Savage whenever an opportunity arose. Nevertheless, The Million Dollar Man was tantalizingly close to crawling out of the cage but Savage managed to reel him back in. Virgil climbed to the top of the cage but Savage clashed Virgil and DiBiase's heads together. Savage retained the WWE Title much to the delight of the MSG crowd. The match was so hot that it was awarded 4.5 stars.
1 Randy Savage Vs. Ricky Steamboat - WrestleMania III (4.5 Stars)
The wizardry between Randy Savage and Ricky Steamboat for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania III was simply out of this world. All eyes were on Hogan and Andre's WWE Title match but Savage and Steamboat stole the show.
It was a technical masterclass with many fans and wrestlers alike picking this match as their all-time favorite. Savage fought to the very end but the night belonged to Steamboat. Savage's 414-day reign as Intercontinental Champion came to a halt but he make the title feel relevant throughout the '80s. Nevertheless, Meltzer rated the bout at a high of 4.5 stars.
