Roman Reigns may have caused some backstage heat for Charlotte Flair by deciding to remain away from WWE amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Reigns hasn't been involved in company affairs since pulling out of WrestleMania 36  - at least not visibly. The Big Dog was booked for a Universal Title match with Goldberg but he opted to forego the bout and Braun Strowman replaced him on the Grandest Stage of Them All, winning the belt for his trouble.

It's been suggested that Reigns' absence has led to heat for Charlotte as he was the one who took most of it while he was around. According to journalist Rich Fann, the feeling in the locker room is Charlotte is on television too often but Reigns deflected most of the criticism before he stepped away as he and Charlotte basically get treated by the same.

"With Roman Reigns not here, one of the things I have always stood by is - Roman and Charlotte essentially get treated the same," Fann said on Wade Keller's PWTorch podcast, "but Roman was the one who got the biggest set of heat. Now that Roman is gone, everyone is giving her 'why are you on tv all the time'."

Reigns isn't expected to return to television anytime soon, definitely not before the pandemic significantly fizzes out.

“I just want everyone to be safe." he told Kayla Braxton last week. "Obviously, I want to be there. I’ve spent the last 10 years of my life dedicated to this trade, craft, learning every single day, everything."

Charlotte's Going Nowhere

The reports on the backstage feeling on Reigns' decision have been conflicting. It was claimed WWE was unhappy with the superstar's choosing to remain home but it's since been understood that the company supports him, especially given his previous battle with leukemia.

Where Flair's concerned, her visibility isn't likely to wane, especially now that Becky Lynch won't be around for a while.
