There has been more change in WWE over the course of the last two months than at any other point in its history. Vince McMahon has retired, Triple H is head of creative, and Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan are now the co-CEOs. Stephanie was briefly the interim CEO of WWE before her dad retired, revealing today that was a role she offered to assume and wasn't approached for it.

Stephanie McMahon Offered To Be Interim CEO

“I was not forced into returning as CEO and Chairman in the interim position. I offered,” Stephanie said during WWE's Q2 2022 investors call (via Cultaholic). “That was an opportunity for me to come back and be part of this company that I love and have the opportunity to lead this company.” Stephanie had actually departed WWE on a leave of absence earlier this year, but the allegations against her father brought her back into the fold sooner than expected.

Stephanie also addressed that leave of absence during the call, seemingly responding to those who believe she was forced out of the company. “I took a leave of absence, realizing that I needed a little bit of time with my family given the grueling schedule and nature. I got about three weeks, which is more than a lot of other folks get.”

Triple H And Stephanie

Stephanie Had A Lot Going On At Home

Not only has the new CEO had to deal with a grueling schedule, but she also had some pretty scary issues to handle at home. In September of last year, her husband Triple H was rushed to hospital for emergency heart surgery. The Game has since revealed the incident could have cost him his life, and that it means he will never be able to wrestle again.

Elsewhere in the investors call, WWE revealed revenue of $328 million for Q2 2022. That's an increase of $63 million based on the same period last year. Perhaps unsurprising when you consider part of that same quarter in 2021 was the tail end of WWE shows taking place in the ThunderDome. WWE also revealed the investigation into Vince is “substantially complete” and has cost the company $1.7 million so far.
