Best known for playing Oliver Queen / Green Arrow on the CW series Arrow, Stephen Amell is trading his superhero tights for wrestling tights in the upcoming Starz drama Heels. The actor, who has made appearances in major wrestling promotions, including WWE and ROH, will be joined on the show by none other than former WWE Champion CM Punk.
On Twitter, Amell wrote, “Please welcome @CMPunk to @HeelsSTARZ — He was a little rusty in the ring yesterday, but I assured him it was just like riding a bike.” The announcement was posted alongside a picture of Amell and Punk in the ring.

Punk, also known as Phil Brooks, left WWE in 2014 after being suspended for two months. He later claimed that he was given the run-around when he asked for unpaid royalties and was fired shortly after on his wedding day in June 2014. The wrestler vowed to never return to WWE after reaching a legal settlement with the promotion.
During his time at WWE, Punk won the WWE Championship twice, WWE's World Heavyweight Championship three times, WWE's World Tag Team Championship with Kofi Kingston and WWE’s Intercontinental Championship, become the nineteenth Triple Crown Champion and the fastest to achieve this feat in 203 days.
Punk retired from professional wrestling in early 2014. He was signed by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in December that year. His first professional fight took place in September 2016 at UFC 203 against Mickey Gall, to whom he lost via submission in the first round. He lost his second bout to Mike Jackson via unanimous decision in June 2018 at UFC 225.
The 42-year-old made his acting debut in the horror films Girl on the Third Floor and Rabid, both released in 2019. His role in Heels, a drama about two brothers wrestling in scripted matches as they fight over their late father’s wrestling promotion in a small town in Georgia, is unclear. However, the show, which does not yet have a release date, will no doubt garner attention from fans of the former wrestler.
