Fatal Four Way matches are crucial to the game yet hard  to come by. They develope storylines, mix up feuds and set up unlikely alliances. They can be a phenomenal addition to wrestling and often create unexpected events. In the case that they don't go so well the consequences can be botched storylines, ruined reputations and ultimately mediocre moments in wrestling. When that happens, fans don't tend to take to it very well and can rage.

A good fight is made up of side stories, individuality of teams and proper outcomes, these matches are lacking in one or more of these areas. Listed below is a ranked list of the most controversial and disappointing Fatal Four Way matches in WWE history.

10 WrestleMania 13 - The Headbangers, The Godwinns, The New Blackjacks and Doug Furnas & Phil LaFon

WrestleMania 13's Contenders Fatal Four Way Elimination Match opened the show in an attempt to test out new tag team talents. A fairly basic match with nothing really terrible or that noteworthy. This was not the best way to kick off a WrestleMania.

Some argue that this match was better than the main card fight between the Undertaker Vs. Sycho Sid at Mania'13. However, that argument is solely based on a botched WWE Championship match opposed to a well executed Fatal Four Way. This match was all over the place with the quality of wrestling and their inability to draw any reaction from the crowd.

9 WrestleMania XX - Rikishi and Scotty 2 Hotty, The APA, The Bashams, & The World's Greatest Tag Team

You'd think that with this many skilled fighters in a ring they'd be able to take their time and deliver a crisp match to be remembered. Instead, for uncertain reasons this match was rushed, which caused these wrestlers to forfeit their A-game simply to keep up with one another.

The most intriguing part didn't even take place during the match but directly when the champions put on a little extra entertainment. There was more of a show in Rikishi and Scotty's celebration than in the actual match itself.

8 WrestleMania 16 - Triple H, The Rock, Mick Foley, & The Big Show

The main event for WrestleMania 2000 would have been far better received if it was a single match between The Rock and Triple H. It would have been a significantly better continuation of their storyline, instead of crowding it by adding Foley and The Big Show.

The original Fatal Four match was supposed to be a vessel for The Undertaker and Steve Austin. However, this second hand grouping of wrestlers ended up simply tampering with The Rock and Triple H's feud and creating an awkward end to WrestleMania 2000.

7 NXT - Adrian Neville, Tyson Kidd, Sami Zayn, & Typer Breeze

The NXT Championship match had nothing exactly wrong with it, however it was overly excessive and may have crossed a line or two in the name of entertainment. There was an overselling of the heel elements in Enzo and Cass which were a little exaggerated. Secondly, the LeFort drama was the element that pushed the match to a level that it didn't need  to reach.

The match itself was exactly what you'd expect of these wrestlers, and fans ate it up. However, it was the Carmella-esque hair stunt and drama afterwards that made this leave a bad mark.

6 RAW 2019 - Alexa Bliss, Naomi, Carmella, & Natalya

Natalya takes the championship after a whirlwind of events, an angry crowd and unwarranted showboating. Midway through the fight the fans simply got fed up with the quality of the content they were being given. Ultimately, the outcome of the fight was a nice continuation and fueling of Natalya and Becky Lynch's storyline.

However, the events in between were rather disappointing. Bliss was hiding in the corner waiting for the others to do the majority of the work. Carmella delivering a mediocre performance yet decides to showboat and an accidental take out of Nikki Cross on the sidelines resulted in a botched Four Way match.

5  WrestleMania 31 - Tyson Kidd and Cesaro, Los Matadores, The New Day, & The Usos

This kick-off show was unarguably a thrilling match with an unanticipated outcome. Cesaro and Tyson Kidd managing to hold their championship was a questionable outcome to an otherwise entertaining match. On more than one occasion, The Usos brothers had the ring to themselves while their opponents writhed on the mat.

Cesaro basically piggybacked on The Usos' efforts throughout the match and did just that as he snuck onto Jey which ended the match. An entertaining match with high quality performance was all lost when the title went to the wrong team.

4 WrestleMania 34 - Randy Orton, Bobby Rhode, Jinder Mahal, & Rusev

This match would could not capture the crowd's attention, partially because they were the second attraction next to Ronda Rousey's performance. Also, the ending was poorly executed and unsatisfactory. Simply covering all the bases in the ring wasn't enough to redeem this match.

At the end of the day there were two crowd favorites in the ring and when they fell, it's fate was sealed as mediocre. The lukewarm, villainous Jinder Mahal would be the man who picked up the win. Many fans were excited and hoping to see a Rusev Day title win, while Mahal wasn't exactly riding on a wave of momentum (quite the opposite) leading to the victory.

3 WrestleMania X8 - Billy & Chuck, The Hardy Boyz, The APA, & The Dudleys

The Four Corner elimination match was rushed and ultimately under delivered for the amount of hype it was given. Defending champions, Billy and Chuck managed to maintain their Tag Team Title despite the odds.

The moment that marks this match as one of the worst is Jeff Hardy's inappropriate and aggressiveness with Stacey on the sidelines.Then staying in the ring longer than necessary while being tossed around like a rag-doll. There was nothing particularly awful about this match other than unlikely champions and an uncomfortable encounter.

2 PayBack 2015 - Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, & Randy Orton

The Shield reunite for one night to deprive Orton of an otherwise deserving title. The entertainment value of this match was top notch along with the trip down memory lane with the brief alliance. However, to have Seth Rollins win this match is a disservice to the integrity of the game.

Roman Reigns and Randy Orton dominated for the majority of the match while Rollins literally crawled away from the fight at any opportunity. A loaded ring and WWE missed an opportunity and wrongfully kept the championship around Rollins.

1 WrestleMania XX - Booker T and RVD, La Resistance, Cade and Jindrak and The Dudley Boyz

Although a not-so-thrilling encounter, there has to be credit given since 2004 wasn't necessarily the best curator for tag team wrestling. However, this match was one of the worst in history.

The Dudley's being the only real competition for Booker T and RVD, the latter managed to hold their title. With two Fatal Four Way matches, WrestleMania XX did not deliver on the tag team front.
