The mark of 200 receiving yards in a single NFL game is absolutely respectable, as it is not easy at all, but admittedly it is nothing phenomenal either, as many players have achieved it. Most of the players who managed to have a 200-yard game are really talented, such as Jerry Rice, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown or Terrell Owens.

However, throughout NFL history there have been average receivers who somehow had a 200-yard game. Maybe it was a lucky day, motivation or something else, but either way they did it. On that note, below we take a look at the 10 worst NFL receivers to have 200 yards in a single game.

10 Eric Decker

Eric Decker

Eric Decker was not a bad wide receiver, but he was never outstanding either. He was in the NFL for seven years, having three seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards, accumulating 5,816 yards in his career, with 439 receptions and a catch percentage of 61.6. He was never called to the Pro-Bowl nor did he win any awards.

Still, Decker can say he had a 221-yard game in the NFL, something he accomplished on Dec. 28, 2014, in the New York Jets' 37-24 win over the Miami Dolphins.

9 Will Fuller

On October 6, 2019, Houston Texans Wide Receiver Will Fuller recorded 14 receptions on 16 targets (87.5%), with three touchdowns and 217 receiving yards, to lead a 53-32 victory over the Atlanta Hawks.

That was the best game of Will Fuller's career by far. Prior to that game, the most yards he had ever gained in a game was 125. In fact, in 55 NFL games, Will Fuller averaged just 57 yards per game.

8 Jerry Butler

In case you didn't know, Jerry Butler was a wide receiver who played for the Buffalo Bills from 1979 to 1986, racking up 4,301 yards in 88 games, that is, 48.9 yards per game. Believe it or not, he had 255 receiving yards in the fourth game of his career, on September 23, 1979.

It was a performance for the ages, one that surely surprised all and sundry at the time. Unfortunately, Jerry Butler was never able to emulate that feat, and he couldn't even reach 150 yards in another game.

7 Flipper Anderson

Flipper Anderson is the man with the most receiving yards in an NFL game, with 336, a record that will probably never be broken. That mythical feat took place on November 26, 1989, in the Los Angeles Rams 20-17 victory over the New Orleans Saints.

The funny thing is that Anderson was never an outstanding receiver, in fact, he was only able to surpass 150 receiving yards one more time in his career, and between 1992 and 1997, his catch percentage was dismal (45.4%).

6 Miles Austin

Miles Austin played 10 seasons in the NFL, and in only two of them did he have more than 1,000 receiving yards, accumulating 5,273 yards in his entire career. Austin was a poor receiver, and his 58.1% catch percentage showcases that fact.

Amazingly, on October 11, 2010, Miles Austin recorded 250 receiving yards, with 10 receptions and a pair of touchdowns, in the Dallas Cowboys 26-20 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

5 Drew Bennett

In his eight-year career, Drew Bennett had nine 100-yard games, two 150-yard games, and only one game over 200 yards, which took place on December 13, 2004. The Tennessee Titans receiver caught 12 passes for 233 yards, with three touchdowns, but his team still lost 49-38 to the Kansas City Chiefs.

It's hard to believe Drew Bennett had a 200-yard game, and it's even harder to believe he stayed in the NFL that long, averaging just 43.3 yards per game with a 52.1 catch percentage.

4 Anthony Allen

Anthony Allen was a backup wide receiver for his entire career, in fact, he played 45 games, and only seven were as a starter. Allen accumulated only 767 receiving yards in his career, and incredibly 255 of them came in one game, on October 4, 1987, in the Washington Redskins 28-21 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Allen wasn't very talented, but somehow, he managed to put on an amazing performance that day.

3 Brian Hartline

On September 30, 2012, the Arizona Cardinals defeated the Miami Dolphins 24-21, despite a strong effort from wide receiver Brian Hartline, who gained 253 yards.

That was the best performance of Hartline's career, which frankly was nothing special. In seven seasons, Brian Hartline played 104 games, averaging 45.8 yards per game, with a 57.4 catch percentage and 14 touchdowns.

2 Josh Gordon

"Flash" Gordon had not one but two 200-yard games in the 2013 season. He was absolutely on fire, and led the league in receiving yards (1,646). It seemed like this kid was special, but guess what, he violated the league's substance abuse policy and missed two seasons.

When Josh Gordon returned, he wasn't even a shadow of his former self. In 75 NFL games, Josh Gordon has 4,284 receiving yards, with a terrible catch percentage of 52.9.

1 Markus Wheaton

The Pittsburgh Steelers gave Markus Wheaton the opportunity to be the starting wide receiver in the 2014 season, but his performance left much to be desired, accumulating only 644 yards on the season. The Steelers were patient and continued to give Wheaton playing time the following season, but again he let them down.

Wheaton simply didn't belong in the NFL and ended up having a forgettable career. However, on September 29, 2015, Markus Wheaton managed to reach the 200-yard mark against the Seattle Seahawks, which is absolutely incredible, because if we exclude that game, his career-high would be 97 yards.
