WWE has been known to produce some of the most thrilling and exciting shows around the world for the entire year. Moreover, there have been many events picked up from its former rival competitor, WCW. One of those events with a rich history and a total reflection of the proud country of the United States is called The Great American Bash.
The Great American Bash has been a prevalent pay-per-view for many years. The event was created by Dusty Rhodes in 1985 and would later become an integral part of WCW and later on, WWE.
However, speaking of the history of the Great American Bash, there is perhaps one edition of the event that is completely different from any other produced. While every year saw amazing storylines with advertised matches for the card, the 1999 edition of Great American Bash did not have any. So let's dive deep and explore the history of that edition of one of the most memorable pay-per-view shows in the wrestling business.

Great American Bash 1999 Had No Announced Card
The show opened with Master P and his No Limit Soldiers arriving at the arena in a limousine. Curt Hennig greeted him and declared that he was the biggest Master P fan in the world. Master P autographed a copy of his record out of respect for his devotion, and Curt, being the malicious heel that he was, proceeded to smash it. The No Limit Soldiers squawked like birds as they pursued Hennig in response to this horrific deed.
This was followed by advertising the unannounced main event for the night, featuring Kevin Nash defending his WCW World Heavyweight Title against "Macho Man" Randy Savage after weeks of their heated rivalry. This was elaborated by the announced team of Tony Schiavone, Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, and Mike Tenay, right after, along with announcing the rest of the match card that was not advertised.
The Great American Bash In 1999 Featured A Stacked Match Card
The opening contest of the night featured a Kendo Sticks Match pitting Brian Knobs with Jimmy Hart against Hardcore Hak with Chastity. The grueling hardcore between two lethal WCW competitors displayed carnage. The end moments saw Hak picking up the win by sending Knobs into a steel chair and covering him for the pin. The next match was scheduled between Mikey Whipwreck and Van Hammer which ended with Hammer picking up the win after connecting with Cobra Clutch Slam.
The third match of the night feature two men who had stints in the famous nWo faction, Disco Inferno and Buff Bagwell. This match was a present from Piper which Bagwell had been in cahoots with. Before sending Disco into the ropes and landing a dropkick, Bagwell launched a barrage of assaults. He scored a Powerslam and then executed The Blockbuster to score the win. The next two bouts saw the team of Rey Mysterio Jr. and Konnan defeat Curt Hennig and Bobby Duncum Jr. in an explosive tag team match and Ernest “The Cat” Miller kicking down Horace Hogan to become the victor of their match.
The sixth and seventh matches on the card featured some of the biggest names in the industry standing across the ring. The first of those contests pitted "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair against Roddy Piper. As the match came to a close, Arn Anderson became involved, but Buff Bagwell kept his earlier promise and rushed in to assist Piper. The referee rang the bell due to Bagwell's meddling. Hot Rod quickly decked his rescuer after becoming frustrated at the DQ, then he raced to retrieve a leather belt while Flair and Anderson held Bagwell in place. The match following this classic encounter was between WCW Television Champion Rick Steiner and The Icon Sting in a non-title Falls Count Anywhere bout, which was one of the biggest victories in Rick Steiner's career as he was mostly recognized as a tag team wrestler.
The last match of the card before the main event saw The Jersey Triad (Diamond Dallas Page and Kanyon) dethrone Chris Benoit and Perry Saturn to become the new WCW Tag Team Champions.

The Great American Bash Was Headlined By An Explosive Main Event
The main event of the 1999 Great American Bash featured Kevin nash defending his WCW World Championship against Randy Savage. Nash walked into the match injured after getting smashed into his own limo. The match was an excellent contest, despite the Macho Man's passing his prime and Nash being a much more dominant competitor.
The ending moments of the match displayed Nash striking a Big Boot to the face after connecting the Snake Eyes on Savage. He threw a Jackknife Powerbomb, but Miss Madness and Madusa rushed to the ring and begin to assault Nash. Miss Madness rose to the top once more, but this time Nash caught her and dropped her. However, he received a boot from a returning Sid Vicious as he turned around. As Sid planted Nash with a Powerbomb, the match was declared over and Big Daddy Cool retained the title via disqualification, with Sid standing tall over the fallen champion.
The event featured a great line-up of WCW superstars that displayed exhilarating performances and made it one of the best editions of the Great American Bash event, despite no matches being advertised before the show.
