Wade Barrett was brutally honest with WWE when he left the company in 2016, telling them that he "f**king hated it" there.
So many people have come and gone from WWE since Vince McMahon took control of the company that there have been multiple pictures painted of what it's like to work there. It will have also changed multiple times since McMahon took charge. Some wrestlers say the boss is like a father to them and they loved working with the company. Others describe McMahon as the devil and have vowed never to return.
Most former Superstars fall somewhere in between those two extremes, and of those is Wade Barrett. Barrett, now known by his real name Stu Bennett left the company in 2016. The Brit had a pretty successful run in WWE, winning multiple titles and also becoming King of the Ring. The only barrier he didn't manage to break through was the one between himself and winning a World Championship.

During a recent appearance on Colt Cabana's Art of Wrestling, Bennett went into great detail about his time with WWE. Although he admits to the majority of his run being a great one, he also reveals that by the end of it, he had no doubt about wanting to leave and try his luck elsewhere. "I told them that my contract was coming up, and I told them that I wasn't re-signing," Bennett explained on the podcast.
WWE came back with an improved offer, to which Bennett gave them a brutally honest response. "I told them 'It doesn't matter what you offer me, I need to leave. I f**king hate it here.'," Bennett revealed. He also added that he had felt that way for over a year, and after trying to reignite his WWE career in a number of ways during that time, he had reached the point where he knew it was time to move on.
Bennett was so serious about leaving WWE that he didn't even open the contract given to him for a long time after departing the company. Bennett has remained in the wrestling business though and currently works as an announcer with the NWA. He has also continued his acting career, landing some pretty impressive roles. As for whether he will ever return to WWE, that doesn't seem likely, but never say never.
