Friday's episode of SmackDown included an interesting development when it comes to the heavily-promoted tag team match that was set to take place at WrestleMania Backlash. More specifically, the show teased that the WWE Tag Team Unification Match is no longer taking place.
During Friday's show, a contract signing was scheduled to take place between Raw Tag Team Champions RK-Bro and SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos. As contract signings often do, this one got a bit chaotic and things broke down when Randy Orton explained to Riddle how he could tell the Usos apart. Jey was Roman's right-hand man and Jimmy was nothing but a little bit--. Immediately Jimmy attacked and during the brawl, Roman's music hit and he came down to the ring with Paul Heyman.

When The Usos used the distraction to get the upper hand on RK-Bro, Reigns got involved. He climbed into the ring and while The Usos were holding Riddle, Reigns ripped up the unification match contract and shoved it down Riddle's throat before attacking him. That brought on Drew McIntyre's music and after taking out The Usos, he went blow-to-blow with Reigns. A suplex sent The Head of the Table out of the ring and The Bloodline retreated.
Heyman Demanded The Match Be Changed
The SmackDown announce crew asked what this meant for the tag team title match and it wasn't until a backstage segment where Heyman "advised" WWE official Adam Pearce to change it to a six-man tag that it seemed clear WWE was shifting directions. While Pearce said he couldn't just change a title match, Heyman threatened Pearce suggesting he'd love it if the WWE official gave Heyman a reason to appeal the decision and explain why Roman Reigns was being left off the WrestleMania Backlash card.
Is this match officially off? Did WWE change things? The show closed without a clear answer.
